  • "My wife traded in her reliable old Ford Taurus for a AWD Trax in 2017 with only 30,000 miles. She needed a fuel efficient, AWD vehicle for work and since we didn't want a Subaru, this vehicle was the best fit. 2 years and 47,000 miles later, it gets an average of 27 mpg while performing in the snow and ice really well. It does even better with Mastercraft Courser MSR snow tires (size 215/65r16) on it. With that being said, we have found plenty of reliability / quality issues.1) My Link infotainment system is junk - poor layout, takes up to 2 minutes to start after car starts, nav only works if you pay for a app through your phone and the bluetooth makes you sound like you are talking into a tin can to the person on the other end of the line.2) Paint is pealing off the rear hatch and there are uneven panel gaps around the hatch. Keep in mind this car has NEVER been in a accident.3) A rear seat belt buckle broke at 40,000 miles - warranty repaired.4) Spark plugs worked them self loose at 45,000 miles, we replace them at 50,000 miles and they worked their way loose 2 more times.5) Rear breaks have needed adjusting 4 times each year.6) Oil smell inside the car started around 47,000 miles. Dealership mechanics finally traces the source of the smell to a leaking valve cover at 67,000 miles - certified pre-owned warranty repaired.7) Currently, the AC compressor and at least 2 wheel hubs are going out and an occasional tapping noise has developed from the engine.Keep in mind this has been a well cared for, 4 year old vehicle with only 77,000 miles. My wife and I don't abuse our vehicles so these are issues for us are typical of a 10 year old vehicle with 140,000 miles. Based on these reliability and quality issues, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THE TRAX and we are looking into trading-in / selling ours before the new year. I gave it 2 stars instead of 1 because it is an AWD that averages 27 mpg and does great in the snow."

  • "I love the manual drive as well as standard. It helps when on a hill or need to take off quicker than normal. Other than the start up is a little slow, it is a great vehicle for what I need. Will see what it does with Michigan snow!"

  • "Too earlier to say how reliable this car is. I enjoy driving this car. I have a very active lifestyle and the interior space is more than adequate. If after driving this car for a year or more I feel it is reliable I would rate it as a five star choice!"

Car Brakes: How Do You Know When to Change Them?

By Zach Bowman For those who suffer a daily commute through heavy traffic, your vehicle's braking system can bring thousands of pounds of metal, plastic and empty Starbucks cups to a stop hundreds of times before you get to work. It goes without saying that these pieces wear out, but they do so slowly, meaning you may not notice they need attention until ...
